Trade and Sustainable Development: the history of BDA's Ecopreneurs
In November 2008, 32 Congolese men and women left their homes, their communities, and their professional, social and family responsibilities to begin the training program that the BDA Foundation is launching in DRC. In their respective provinces of origin, they each have land on which they dream of producing the first African medicinal plants that meet international standards of quality assurance. Not only will this enable them to meet the needs of their communities, but also allow them to contribute to the development of a new, emerging, sustainable and responsible economy in Africa. Aware of the difficult challenges they face in the coming years, they fully accept the sacrifices they will make while carrying a real message of hope to their communities. They are men and women who believe in the potential of their human and natural heritage, and want to contribute to the development of their communities.
After the completion of the first phase of the program in Kinshasa, which included 150 hours of theory and practical courses given by nearly twenty local and international experts, there are now twenty-six remaining to continue the adventure through the second phase of the BDA Foundation training program. They have each begun to design their company’s logo, and to develop and implement their business plan.
